The exploration intention describes an activity where the user browses an information space without a single imposed path.

Semantics

Exploration may:

• present several viewpoints over the same context;
• allow navigation, filtering, and focus changes;
• preserve context when moving between projections;
• combine consultation, selection, and visualization.

Functional constraints

The model should express the explored objects, navigable relations, current context, and semantic events. Graphical organization remains a renderer concern.

Boundary

A tree, list, graph view, or set of panels may all incarnate exploration. None of them defines the intention by itself.
