UXfc — Consultation
Documentation status: reference — see Maturity and evidence.
The consultation intention describes the activity of reading or browsing an addressable resource in a given context, without making the rendering tool the definition of that activity.
Semantics
Consultation may target a page, document, application view, or remote resource. The functional contract concerns:
- the initial resource or address;
- the consultation context;
- navigation policy;
- optional history;
- load, resource-change, and failure events.
Possible incarnations
The same intention may be incarnated by a document viewer, browser frame, remote view, or another component able to present the resource.
Boundary
consultation does not mean “Web browser”. A browser is one possible incarnation; the intention remains renderer-independent.
