Views

Documentation status: reference — see Maturity and evidence.

A view is a projection of a concept in an interaction context. It must not become the definition of the business concept.

Three questions

When reading or designing a view, identify:

  1. the concept being projected;
  2. the interaction intent—explore, select, edit, validate;
  3. the required functional components.

Functional components describe an expected function (field, list, button, grid, frame, and so on). The concrete renderer is selected separately.

Portability

Decoupling the functional view from the concrete component allows the same model to target several UI projections without duplicating business knowledge.
