Class

Documentation status: reference — see Maturity and evidence.

A logiCells class defines the stable conceptual identity of a model type. It groups the facets, relations, actions, events, collections, and views that make the concept executable.

Public identity

classId is the stable conceptual identifier. It must be unique within the deployment scope and owned by the project or product that defines it.

class:
  name: Contact
  classId: crm#contact
  type: Entity

Do not change a classId once data, relations, integrations, or service contracts depend on it without treating the change as a contract migration.

Class and instance

The class defines what may exist; an instance represents what actually exists. This separation lets the model evolve while preserving explicit conceptual identity.

Optional implementation binding

When a metadata generation requires an implementation binding, public examples preserve the field but normalize the historical source prefix:

class:
  classId: app#work_item
  name: WorkItem
  className: CustomClassItem
  type: Entity
  object:
    className: CustomObjectItem
    objectName: WorkItem

The binding name is operational metadata. app#work_item remains the conceptual identity and WorkItem remains the public model name.

Common sections

Depending on its category and the available grammar, a class can carry:

  • concepts and facets;
  • collections;
  • states and transitions;
  • events;
  • actions;
  • views.

See Declarations/Class.yaml for a structured declaration form.
