Expressions and variables
Documentation status: guide — see Maturity and evidence.
functionalP supports common primitive values, assignment, arithmetic, comparisons, and boolean composition.
Primitive values
'Hello world!';
42;
42.65;
true;
false;
nil;
Use typed booleans (true / false). Do not build application behavior around diagnostic renderings of boolean values.
Assignment
message := 'Ready';
count := 3;
Result := message;
The assignment operator is :=.
Arithmetic and comparisons
5 + 10 * 2 + 6;
5 <> 10;
5 <= 5;
true and false;
false or true and false;
Use intermediate names when an expression participates in a larger action or event flow. This makes runtime traces and failure diagnostics easier to understand.
Scope discipline
Variables are local working names. They should not become an undocumented replacement for conceptual roles or process state. If a value has durable business meaning, model it explicitly.
